Is it the Aare River that lets inspiration flow or the milk which used to be given out during school breaks? There’s hardly another city in Switzerland that has produced as many writers as Olten.

Stroll around Olten while being captivated by its various audio tours, part of the Olten LiteraTour City project. Listen to stories written by Olten authors Alex Capus, Franz Hohler, Pedro Lenz along with those by ten others. Visitors can use their smartphones or tablets to scan the QR codes on 60 audio stations and listen to stories lasting two to four minutes. The stories are told by the writers themselves and have a close affinity with the authors’ lives as well as the area.

The “Christian Schenker” family tour will not disappoint children and the young at heart as it traces a circuit of 11 stations featuring funny and entertaining stories and songs. Children receive an explorer card for the tour that contains a whole host of things for them to count and find out.

In addition to these tours, you can walk along the Quai Cornichon Walk of Fame listening to 30 cabaret gems, before doing a bit of puzzle-solving in the interactive puzzle cabin.
